Jordan Owens believes Crusaders have to step up today and deliver an important win at Warrenpoint Town or face the danger of falling way behind Linfield in the title race.
Having been an influential figure for the Crues in their three league successes in the last four campaigns, Owens knows exactly what is required to win championship medals, and their previous performance against Linfield didn't cut it.
The Blues went to Seaview last weekend with a point to prove after being bullied by the Crues last term, and left north Belfast with a precious 2-0 victory.
It took David Healy's side five points clear of the champions with just three games gone - but Owens suggests success at the Q Radio Arena could be the kick-start to the season that the Seaview men need.
The striker knows all too well though that it will be a test against a Warrenpoint side who are looking to bounce back after a disappointing start with three defeats in a row.
"They will be tough opposition because they need the points as well," says the Crusaders record goalscorer.
"We are champions and everyone is out to beat us, and we aren't going to get it easy, but if we can put in a good performance and get the win we can move on from there.
"It's fair to say we haven't had the best of starts. It's a bit like the last couple of years when I don't think we were on top form at the beginning, but if we get a result at Warrenpoint I think it can kick-start the campaign for us and we can go on a good run.
"It's time for everyone to step up to the plate."
