Bolger on Garde for Cheltenham

Garde Champetre is set to run at Cheltenham for the 15th time when he lines up for the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase on November 11.

The 12-year-old has been a tremendous servant to owner JP McManus, winning fives times over the cross-country track at Prestbury Park. He will be making his fourth successive appearance in this particular race, having won in 2009 and finishing second on the other two occasions.

Trainer Enda Bolger reports Garde Champetre to be all the better for a warm-up outing over hurdles at Naas earlier this month.

"He had his prep run last week for Cheltenham in a two-mile-three-furlong hurdle and he performed all right, so it should put him spot on for the race in a couple of weeks' time," said Bolger.

Bolger also had news of two of his other cross-country stalwarts, L'Ami and Heads Onthe Ground.

"They are both well into their teens now. Heads Onthe Ground is going hunting and L'Ami has been retired," he revealed.
