Caravaggio and The Tin Man on July Cup collision course

Caravaggio and The Tin Man star among 15 sprinters confirmed for the Darley July Cup at Newmarket on Saturday.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained Caravaggio stretched his unbeaten record to six in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot and is likely to be a hot favourite to beat his elders for the first time in this weekend's Group One feature.

The Ballydoyle handler has also left in fellow three-year-olds Intelligence Cross, Peace Envoy and Pedestal, as well as older horses Cougar Mountain and Washington DC.

The only other three-year-old contender is Clive Cox's Commonwealth Cup runner-up Harry Angel.

The Tin Man, trained by James Fanshawe, heads the older brigade after winning the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at the Royal meeting.

He could be reopposed by both the runner-up Tasleet and the third Limato, who was a brilliant winner of the July Cup 12 months ago.

Brando, Glass Office, Growl, Intisaab and Mr Lupton are the other possible runners.
