Jump jockey Peterjon Carberry has been suspended for 40 days for failing to ride out to the winning post for a second time within 12 months.

Carberry was found guilty at a British Horseracing Authority hearing on Thursday.

The trigger for the hefty ban came at Uttoxeter last month when Monty's Moon was eased down after the final flight of the Get Live Football Stats At totesport.com Novices' Handicap Hurdle.

The 100-30 favourite finished third, after which Carberry claimed to have mistaken the winning post for another marker along the run-in.

Carberry, brother to esteemed riders Paul, Nina and Philip, had also mistaken the winning post at Sandown last November when he received a 10-day ban for losing third place aboard Maurisca.
