Dahlia in bloom at Dundalk

Blue Dahlia formed part of a Tommy Stack double on the opening day of the turf season and attempts to supplement that victory in the Crowne Plaza Race & Stay Package Race at Dundalk on Friday.

The daughter of Shamardal has to give weight to a couple of unexposed three-year-olds but the way she dismissed her rivals at the Curragh less than two weeks ago suggested she is on a firm upward curve.

Toraidhe just missed out on Irish Lincolnshire glory at the same fixture and he bids to go one better in the Handicap.

Jim Bolger's five-year-old was second best in a head-bobbing finish with Drombeg Dawn but didn't really fire on his only other try at an artificial surface, though that came over a much longer trip.

Stack also runs Sikara in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Fillies Maiden and she offered encouragement when second in a Roscommon maiden, while the County Tipperary handler has the progressive Celerina in the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap.

Green Mile and Sarteano, better known for their National Hunt exploits, cross swords in the Bookings At Handicap, and Alamanda also reverts from obstacles in the Crowne Plaza Jockey & Trainer Championship Race.
