Darenjan bids for Tramore triumph

The Ladbrokes Handicap Chase takes top billing on an interesting mixed card at Tramore on Friday.

The two-mile contest has attracted 11 participants, with the Shark Hanlon-trained Darenjan carrying top-weight.

Although he has won just once from 10 starts over fences, the nine-year-old is a three-time course winner and last month's second behind Fosters Cross at Galway suggests he has every chance of getting back on the winning trail.

Sports Line has been disappointing since an exciting novice campaign, but he has slipped down the weights as a result and should not be totally dismissed.

Last month's Downpatrick winner Claragh Native is another contender.

Romanesco won over hurdles at Perth for Gordon Elliott a couple of weeks ago and reverts to fences in the tramoreraces On Twitter Handicap Chase. His major rivals include Outlaw Pete, who should strip fitter for last week's comeback run at Gowran Park, and Bangonform.

Rising Time and The Folkes Choice are two of the more likely contenders for the Follow Tramore Races On Facebook Mares Beginners Chase.

The Join The Tramore Supporters Club For 2013 Handicap is a wide-open 16-runner affair, while talented hurdler and chaser Action Master must have a good chance switched back to the Flat against four rivals in the Tramore Racecourse 1912-2012 Centenary Handicap.

The card opens with the Waterford & Tramore Directors Maiden, in which Ken Condon's Zabana sets a decent standard.

Last week's Dundalk winner South South West switches back to turf for the Waterford & Tramore Supporters Club Handicap.
