Dick Turpin's all set to rob his Newbury rivals - Saturday selections

Dick Turpin can cause a minor surprise and pip stablemate Canford Cliffs to the prize in the JLT Lockinge Stakes at Newbury.

Canford Cliffs will go off a hot favourite after being crowned champion three-year-old miler last term, but it cannot be forgotten that Dick Turpin currently holds the advantage with two victories on the three occasions the pair have met.

Admittedly Dick Turpin lacked the star quality of Canford Cliffs as a juvenile but he won the Greenham fair and square and then confirmed the form when second behind Makfi in the 2000 Guineas, with the fellow Richard Hannon-trained runner in third.

The trainer had excuses for Canford Cliffs' defeat in both of those runs and duly reversed the form in the St James's Palace Stakes at Ascot.

Dick Turpin went on to claim French Group One success and while a crack at ten furlongs in the Juddmonte International failed to bear any fruit, his closing third place behind Goldikova - beaten by just a length - reads fairly well.

The Arakan colt will also have the benefit of already having a win under his belt this term after laughing at his rivals in the bet365 Mile at Sandown last month and that victory could give him a vital edge here.

Rastaban could be the answer to the tricky puzzle that is the totesport.com London Gold Cup while Polly's Mark should be on target in the JLT Aston Park Stakes after just losing out in Listed company last time.

I Love Me failed to cut much ice in the 1000 Guineas but she should fare better dropped back to Listed level in the Stobart Group King Charles II Stakes.

A surprise winner of a valuable sales race on her juvenile bow, I Love Me subsequently hit the bar in Group Two company last autumn to demonstrate her previous win was no fluke.

This seven-furlong heat has not drawn the strongest field and Andrew Balding's charge can exploit the opportunity.
