Double treat at Dundalk

A unique racing experience launches on Friday at Dundalk stadium — horse and greyhound racing on the same night.

The venue is Ireland’s first floodlit, all-weather racecourse and from this Friday, through to December, Dundalk will host seven live horse races, followed by eight greyhound races.

It's expected to be a winner with northern punters and party night groups with deals for sport, entertainment and dining ranging from €15 per person upwards.

“Horse Racing at Dundalk stadium offers an unforgettable experience,” said Emma Meehan, sales and marketing manager.

“It is a great night out for those who attend. For us at the stadium, we are delighted to be able to introduce race-goers to the excitement of floodlit all-weather racing in world-class facilities.

“Our all-weather racecourse provides a consistent running surface throughout the year and has been widely acclaimed as the world’s best polytrack. This Friday heralds the start of 23 programmed fixtures at Dundalk Stadium for the coming year with the opportunity for growth.”

Feature races at Dundalk stadium throughout the year include the Diamond Stakes Group 3; Star Appeal Stakes; Mercury Stakes; Carlingford Stakes and Cooley Stakes. As well as live racing from Dundalk, televised racing from overseas fixtures will be screened at the venue. For info, see
