Handassa on trial
Kevin Prendergast's Handassa is set to go on trial for the Irish 1000 Guineas in the near future.
The once-raced filly bolted up on her only start last season and is a general 10-1 chance for the Classic. She holds an entry at the Curragh next week in the Athasi Stakes but owner Hamdan Al Maktoum's racing manager Angus Gold intimated she will wait to take on her own age group.
"She's due to run in a Guineas trial in Ireland. Mr Prendergast has been pretty happy with her all the way through. He had her in a six-furlong Listed race about a week ago but just felt that was going to be a bit sharp for her," Gold told At The Races.
"It's an interesting one on pedigree as her mother is related to two Group One-winning sprinters so there's speed there.
"She made her debut over seven so I see no reason why she won't get a mile. She has loads of untapped potential, she looked good that day but obviously her next run will tell us a lot more."
