Dessie Hughes has warned that his high-class hurdling recruit Minsk might not be ready for a first start at Leopardstown's Christmas meeting.
Minsk is already ante-post second favourite for the Triumph Hurdle after an impressive career on the Flat for John Oxx which concluded with an easy win in the Irish Cesarewitch.
Hughes had pencilled in the United Arab Emirates Embassy Juvenile Hurdle on December 26 and is still pleased with his new charge's progress, but he may decide to wait.
"We schooled him immediately after he came to us as I wanted to get that work done when he was fully fit. He schooled exceptionally well and is an exciting prospect," said the trainer.
"But he needed a bit of a break as he was on the go since the start of the year and, while I was hoping to run him at Christmas, it may come a bit quick.
"He's only back about two weeks and the Triumph Hurdle is the main objective. He's a lovely horse."
