Hurricane not blown out yet, insists Mullins

By Frank Brownlow

It was the big question at the Cheltenham Festival last night – what does the future hold for Hurricane Fly?

The big crowd was buzzing as the Ulster-owned Fly went for a Champion Hurdle hat-trick but, despite going off as the 11-4 favourite, he could only finish fourth in a race won by Jezki, a Down Royal Festival winner under Tony McCoy in November.

But the message from connections of Hurricane Fly – owned by Mrs Rose Boyd from Crossgar and Belfast's George Creighton – was a defiant one.

"One disappointing run is not the end of it. We will do what we normally do and go on to Punchestown (next month)," said trainer Willie Mullins.

Lewis Creighton, representing the owners, said: "We are confident Hurricane Fly will be competing for another year or two yet."
