Mag on Moriarty trail

Dessie Hughes is eyeing Grade One glory for Magnanimity following his defeat of the highly regarded Jessies Dream at Leopardstown earlier this month.

The seven-year-old made it two victories from three starts over fences in the Tote Pick Six Killiney Novice Chase and the Dr PJ Moriarty Novice Chase at the same track is next on his agenda.

"He came out of the race in very good form and all being well he goes back to Leopardstown for the Moriarty," said Hughes.

"He wants soft ground, so we'll have to see what happens with the weather before we decide on Cheltenham and things like that."

Hughes also gave a positive update on the talented Rare Bob, who struck gold in a valuable handicap chase on the same Leopardstown card earlier this month.

"We were delighted to see him win. We had to stop half way through the season last year and get his wind done, but it was a good run the other day," the trainer added.

"He's in the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham but there will be a lot higher rated horses than him in that, so we'll probably try to find another handicap for him."
