Marnane anticipates big Boom run

Trainer David Marnane is looking forward to seeing impressive maiden scorer Boom The Groom test his powers at Listed level in the Coolmore Canford Cliffs Stakes at Tipperary on Friday evening.

The Kodiac colt proceeded to make all the running on his racecourse debut at Fairyhouse a month ago and the form received a boost when the third home Pixie Hollow, struck on her next start at Sligo on Wednesday.

Marnane is hoping the rain stays away from Tipperary ahead of his colt's next assignment.

"It was nice to see the filly he beat win so easy in Sligo and the horse is in good order," said the trainer.

"He came out of his last race well and this is next port of call. It's a step up, so we'll see how he gets on.

"I'm happy with him and hopefully the ground will be all right. He likes good ground and if it's any worse than that, he might not run."

Boom The Groom faces no easy task as he looks to keep his unbeaten record intact, with Aidan O'Brien double-handed.

The master of Ballydoyle unleashes runaway Gowran Park winner Indian Maharaja, as well as Bluebell.

John Murphy's Captain's Affair looks to prove his winning debut at Gowran was no fluke.

The field is completed by Jim Bolger-trained newcomer Ceisteach and David Wachman's Fly To The Moon.
