Purser can make his quality pay off with Lingfield victory

By Anita Chambers

It will be something of a surprise if Purser meets with defeat in the Injured Jockeys Fund EBF Novice Stakes at Lingfield today.

An eyecatching winner on his debut at Newbury, John Gosden opted to hike him up to Group Three level on just his second start for the Solario Stakes at Sandown.

He enjoyed no luck in running at all that day and Frankie Dettori was far from hard on him when it became clear his chance to challenge had gone.

Purser eventually finished just under four lengths behind Masar and, given that one ran so well in defeat at Chantilly on Sunday, the value of the form is there for all to see.

Musical Terms makes plenty of appeal in the Bet toteexacta At Handicap at Chelmsford.

William Haggas' charge moves into the handicap sphere after shedding his maiden tag at the fourth try at Ripon in August.

Haggas then found a suitable opportunity for his charge back at Ripon and Musical Terms duly took full advantage.

Musical Terms' confidence should certainly now be augmented.
