Sloan family's double is a real Christmas cracker
The Templepatrick-based Sloan family have enjoyed a major mixed double.
Suma's Zorra, owned by Joanne Sloan-Allen, and team rider Sameh El Dahan won the £270,000 Longines Grand Prix at the La Coruna 5 Star International Horse Show in Spain to add to the Irish-bred mare's tally of success this season.
The top class showjumper also filled fifth place in the World Cup event at the show.
It was the turn of Joanne's mother Pat Sloan to claim the limelight when Guitar Pete claimed the feature at Cheltenham's two-day Open Meeting on Saturday - the £120,000 Caspian Caviar Gold Cup - in dramatic fashion after Starchitect was injured prior to the final fence allowing the local horse to prevail with Ryan Day in the saddle.
Trainer Nicky Richards said: "This horse was a dual Grade 1 winner who lost his way a little bit. Thankfully Mr and Mrs Sloan sent him to me."
Guitar Pete has now won in excess of £250,00 in prize money.
