Tiddliwinks adds to gains

Tiddliwinks followed up his recent Group Two success at York with victory in the Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands Stakes at the Curragh.

Kevin Ryan's runner, who landed the Duke Of York Stakes last time, came with his customary late run to claim Group Three honours after Jimmy Styles set the early gallop.

Pat Smullen was happy to employ waiting tactics on the winner, tracking Crusade and Fire Lily down the middle of the track, and when the 8-1 shot hit his stride he powered through to steal a half-length verdict. Jimmy Styles put in a renewed challenge to take second, with The Reaper back in third.

Jim Bolger's Parish Hall had to miss out on the Irish 2000 Guineas after suffering a setback in the morning, but Glor Na Mara (9-1) and Aquilonius (16-1) will have cheered the trainer slightly.

Glor Na Mara took the Emirates Equestrian Federation Handicap in a duel with Dandy Boy, while Aquilonius emerged victorious in the ITBA Supporting Irish Thoroughbred Breeders Handicap.

Bolger said of the former: "We know where he was a couple of years ago when he was third to Frankel. We never found any reason why his form tapered off, but we've not given up hope and hopefully we'll get him back in time. He could go for the Ballycorus Stakes at Leopardstown."

He added of Aquilonius: "Little fish are sweet. He was supposed to be the third leg of a treble today, but of course we didn't get to run the other one. He'll probably have another run before going to the July sales."
