Trainer Jessica lands top award after Gold Cup glory

By Nick Robson

Jessica Harrington, trainer of last month's Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Sizing John, has today been named Philips Lighting Sports Manager of the Month for March. Sizing John, having already won the Irish Gold Cup, clinched the double at the Cheltenham Festival on St Patrick's Day.

This was Harrington's second victory of the day as Rock The World had won the Grand Annual earlier on.

Sizing John was the first mount Harrington had entered in the Gold Cup and her victory created history as the 24th Irish-trained winner while the Kildare handler is just the third female trainer to achieve the feat.

Meanwhile, Harrington has given Torcedor the option in Sunday's Coolmore Vintage Crop Stakes at Navan after he bolted up on his first start for the yard since leaving David Wachman.

The second and third at Leopardstown that day, Jim Bolger's Twilight Payment and Dermot Weld's Forgotten Rules, are due to take him on again.

Ascot Gold Cup winner Order Of St George is also among the 10 entries. Diamonds Pour Moi, Lustrous Light and Motherland are others in the entry.
