Ashleigh Baxter return a big lift for Ulster

By Ronnie Ingram

Ulster, following their disappointing 41-7 performance against Leinster in the inter-provincial at Ravenhill at the weekend, will be strengthened by the return of Ashleigh Baxter (Belfast Harlequins) for the trip to Munster on Sunday afternoon.

The Irish International will come in at full-back so Eliza Downey (Cooke) moves to the right wing. Another Irish team member scrum-half Amy Davis (Blackrock), who has been out with a groin injury, will come back into the squad.

The last time Ulster played their most southern opponents it was a closely fought encounter with only two points between the teams.

Manager Jonathan McKnight is expecting his side to continue on from their second-half effort against Leinster when they showed some promising form, despite the heavy defeat to the inter-pro favourites.

McKnight said: "We were 36 points down before we started to come into the game. We made some stupid mistakes but rallied well towards the close.

"Hopefully we have learned our lesson as the honeymoon period is now over.

"We need to have more aggression and ball retention and an optimistic attitude.

"We have a young and enthusiastic squad and our overall hope is to increase interest in Women's Rugby in the Province.

"I know Munster had a good win over Connacht but we will give our best at Clonmel."
