Bath prop Duncan Bell has been cleared of making contact with the eye or eye area of Sale forward Chris Jones, the Rugby Football Union announced on Monday night.

Bell was cited after Bath's Aviva Premiership victory over the Sharks at Edgeley Park on February 11. The former England international was confident Bath had built a strong case in his defence.

The charges were dismissed by any RFU disciplinary panel in London.

Bell is free to continue playing.

Bell posted his reaction to the decision on Twitter, saying: "A massive Belly thanks to everyone who supported me through this horrible situation. A heinous crime to be accused of. Glad it's over."

Northampton number eight Roger Wilson, meanwhile, has received a two-week suspension after being cited for stamping or trampling on an opponent during Saints' Premiership defeat against Saracens nine days ago.

Northampton, without a win in their last four league games, have now lost Wilson for league fixtures against Gloucester next Saturday and Exeter the following weekend.

Wilson, 29, can resume playing on March 8.
