The Waratahs will travel to Eden Park in Auckland to meet the Blues in the first week of the Super 15 play-offs after claiming fifth spot on the ladder on a dramatic final day of action.

The Tahs qualified for Friday's final by defeating the Brumbies 41-7 at ANZ Stadium yesterday.

That moved them level on points with the Sharks but the Australian team's better points differential saw them take fifth place.

The Sharks will play the third-placed Crusaders in Nelson on Saturday.

The Reds, who assured themselves of top spot with their 19-11 win over the Chiefs in Hamilton, and the Stormers, who beat the Cheetahs 44-34 in Bloemfontein, will each have a week off to prepare for the semi-finals.

As the round-robin competition winners, the Reds will play the lowest-placed team in next week's games in their semi-final.
