The Stormers held out a defiant Brumbies outfit 16-3 in their Week 15 Super Rugby clash at Canberra Stadium.

It was an evenly matched contest, with the Stormers' highly-regarded defence at its best and the Brumbies putting in a much-improved performance.

The Brumbies failed to convert the majority of their second-half possession into points as the Stormers' defence held firm, only having a solitary penalty to show for their efforts.

The Bulls continued to make a late charge after their latest bonus point victory over the Cheetahs at Loftus Versfeld, eventually running out 32-21 winners in the all-South African clash.

Danie Rossouw scored two tries for the Bulls, who also had the accurate kicking of Morne Steyn to thank for pulling out an insurmountable lead, while Ashley Johnson also crossed on two occasions for the Cheetahs.

Wickus van Heerden scored a last-minute try as the Lions all but ended the Highlanders' play-off chances with a 26-22 victory in Dunedin.

It was the Lions' second win in three matches on their tour against a Highlanders side which gave their worst performance of the season.

Tries from Patrick Lambie and JP Pietersen helped the Sharks overturn an eight-point second-half deficit to snatch a 26-21 victory over the Waratahs.

The hosts led 13-11 after a first half containing a try for each team, and the second half followed a similar pattern to leave them victorious.
