Former Australia player and coach Dave Brockhoff has died at the age of 83, the Australian Rugby Union announced on Friday.
Brockhoff made 26 appearances as a flanker for the Wallabies between 1949 and 1953, and was a member of the team which lifted the Bledisloe Cup in 1949 with a 2-0 series win against New Zealand.
He also played for New South Wales for five years and toured South Africa with the national team in 1953.
Brockhoff later moved into coaching and took charge of the Wallabies between 1974 and 1979.
In his final match, he led the side to a historic 12-6 victory over New Zealand to regain the Bledisloe Cup for the first time since he had featured as a player 30 years earlier.
