Armagh seek derby glory over QUB

By Michael Sadlier

Armagh host Queen's University in a Division 2A Ulster derby they really must win to avoid the added damage of succumbing to a fifth straight defeat.

Coach Willie Faloon's squad have fallen to sixth in the table, while the students have risen to third and are clearly on a high after being the first side to take Malone's scalp in the AIL a fortnight ago.

But Armagh have now also beaten Malone, with last weekend's First Trust Ulster Senior Cup win taking the Palace Grounds side to their first final, so they are optimistic that they can recover in the league.

"It's a very important game for us and if we want to stay in the hunt for top four we need to pick up a win," said assistant coach Chris Parker.

While Armagh skipper Ali Birch and Peter Starrett are still sidelined, James Hanna and Robbie Faloon are fit again.

In-form Queen's have Daniel Dass available in a game which will see the students' David Whitten take on his brother Robert.

Elsewhere, leaders Malone are at bottom side Greystones.

In 2B, second-placed Rainey host Skerries while Dungannon are home to Wanderers.

Struggling City of Derry travel to Barnhall.

And bottom team Belfast Harlequins take on leaders Old Crescent.

In 2C, third-placed Bangor host basement side Bective and move Lewis Bret to out-half with Gareth Wright coming in at nine.

Fifth-placed Omagh host Thomond.
