Coleraine Grammar upbeat ahead of big Down High clash
Down High, the holders of the Danske Bank Schools' Subsidiary Shield, will start favourites to overcome Coleraine Grammar in this afternoon's semi-final.
Playing at home means so much in these competitions and the long journey south for Coleraine is a disadvantage.
Despite this their coach Richard Boyd feels that his team is ready for the challenge.
"We have improved considerably since Christmas and there is an air of optimism in the squad," he said.
"I know Methody defeated us in the Cup but a couple of late tries gave them a rather flattering result and diminished our strong first half efforts."
In the other semi-final Dalriada host Ballyclare High.
Ballyclare coach Mike Orchin-McKeever knows his team will need to be at their best especially away from home.
"We have already played them but it was probably our worst performance of the year," he said.
"We had a last minute penalty to win but the kick was missed and that was typical of our efforts.
"Dalriada have a few talented players that we will keep an eye on but I have confidence in the squad and we hope to go one better after losing in last year's final."
