Cracknell returns to Sevens squad

Chris Cracknell resumes England Sevens duty following an injury-hit year after being included in new head coach Simon Amor's first squad.

Cracknell has recovered from a knee injury and is joined in the 12-man party that will compete at the Gold Coast Sevens in Australia by debutant Phil Burgess.

England face Spain, France and South Africa in the opening leg of this season's HSBC Sevens World Series, which runs from October 12-13 weekend.

"It's important to recognise that this is a new team with new ideas," Amor said.

"We're focused on developing our game and changing the way we play and we will make mistakes, but if we get it right we've every chance of being successful."

England Sevens squad: D Bibby, J Brake, P Burgess, C Cracknell, M Ellery, C Lewis-Pratt, T Mitchell, D Norton, T Powell, J Rodwell, M Turner, R Vickerman.
