Cross in for Edinburgh

Scotland prop Geoff Cross will start for Edinburgh as one of five changes for the Magners League clash with Cardiff Blues at Murrayfield.

Cross, who came off the bench in last Sunday's loss to Ireland in the RBS 6 Nations, will start at tighthead, with Esteban Lozada at second row alongside Steven Turnbull, while David Denton will start at blindside flanker.

With Alan MacDonald (shoulder) and Roddy Grant (knee) both ruled out through injury, Struan Dewar will make his Edinburgh debut at openside flanker, while Scotland international Simon Webster is set to start on the wing.

Interim head coach Nick Scrivener said: "The changes we've made in the pack are designed to see us get more from our front five.

"We want our big guys to really make an impact, particularly in contact, and the players we've brought in have the ability to do that.

"It's great to be playing in front of our own crowd after three games on the road, and we know we've got a responsibility to perform in a way that lifts them and makes clear the hurt we all feel about our recent results.

"All three of the Cardiff games to date this year have been typical of our season - we've competed well in patches but not over the 80 minutes.

"We're looking for consistency of performance, both within games and from week to week.

"That's the challenge to the players over these last six games of the Magners League regular season."
