Dragons duo cleared for derby

Newport Gwent Dragons pair Scott Morgan and Aled Brew have been cleared to play in Saturday's Magners League derby against Cardiff Blues by a Welsh Rugby Union disciplinary committee.

The pair had been cited over incidents in Sunday's 23-11 victory over Glasgow Warriors at Rodney Parade.

Lock Morgan was accused of punching while wing Brew, who scored a try, was charged with a dangerous tackle on DTH van der Merwe.

A WRU statement read: "The allegation of a 'spear-tackle' [by Brew] was dismissed and although he was found guilty of a dangerous tackle, this offence is dealt with by awarding a penalty or handing the player a yellow card, it is not a red card offence so no further sanction is necessary.

"The case of Scott Morgan was for punching or striking an opponent. This citing was not upheld because the panel were not satisfied that the player struck the opponent and the player is free to play."
