Edinburgh add Bezuidenhout to squad

Edinburgh have added stand-off Carl Bezuidenhout to the club's 37-man Heineken Cup squad ahead of this Saturday's match against Perpignan.

Edinurgh need to beat their French Pool 6 rivals to keep their knock-out round hopes alive and have brought in 27-year-old Bezuidenhout - recruited last month on a four-month trial - as cover for Piers Francis, who has been ruled out with a foot injury.

Head coach Alan Solomons, said: "We brought Carl Bezuidenhout into the squad on a trial as well as to serve as injury cover. His availability presents us with selection options for Saturday's match-day squad.

"He's trained well with the team since his arrival, while Greig Tonks has performed admirably since moving from full-back to fly-half so, despite still having injuries in this position, we go into the match in relatively good shape in that regard."

Bezuidenhout's inclusion has coincided with the departure of Tony Fenner, who has reached the end of his month-long loan.

Solomons paid tribute to the 24-year-old - an unused replacement against Leinster and Glasgow Warriors - saying: "On behalf of Edinburgh Rugby I would like to thank Tony for his time at the club. He has been the consummate professional since he arrived and we wish him all the very best."
