England fourth in rankings

England have retained a top-four world ranking after finishing second in this year's RBS 6 Nations Championship.

Stuart Lancaster's team are less than one ranking point behind South Africa in fourth spot.

Countries filling the top four International Rugby Board places at the end of this year will be seeded for the 2015 World Cup in England.

Wales, the newly-crowned Six Nations Grand Slam champions, are breathing down England's neck in fifth, but Ireland have dropped one place to eighth following their 30-9 defeat at Twickenham two days ago.

And there is further gloom for Six Nations wooden spoonists Scotland, who are now down to 12th - behind Tonga, Samoa and Italy - after losing all five of their games in the tournament.

World champions New Zealand remain the comfortable rankings leaders, with Tri-Nations title holders Australia in second place.
