Scrum-half Will Genia was named player of the year as the Queensland Reds dominated the Australian Super Rugby awards.

The Australia international narrowly edged out club and country half-back partner Quade Cooper and Western Force's Wallabies back James O'Connor to win the top prize.

The Reds were also named as team of the year and coach Ewen McKenzie was voted coach of the year after 13 wins and just three losses this year.

Melbourne Rebels scrum-half Nick Phipps was voted as Rookie of the Year, while the Try of the Year prize went to the Force's team effort against the Crusaders.
