Green with envy... but Gilroy can take it out on Edinburgh

By Niall Crozier

The green-eyed monster paid Craig Gilroy a visit this week.

Obviously the young Ulster star was delighted to see Ireland – bolstered by Ravenhill team-mates such as Rory Best, Andrew Trimble and Chris Henry – winning the Six Nations title in such dramatic style.

But the man who turned 23 last week couldn't help feeling a tinge of envy that he wasn't part of it.

A succession of injuries has halted Gilroy's progress since he burst onto the international scene but the fit-again winger is planning to turn all that frustration into a positive – with Ulster's PRO12 opponents Edinburgh the victims at Murrayfield tonight.

"It makes you want to work harder, be better and come back stronger," he said, adding: "I've no doubt I have plenty more to show."
