Hurricanes secure Super Rugby play-off spot
Hurricanes held off a Waratahs fightback to secure their place in the Super Rugby play-offs with a 28-17 victory at Sydney's Allianz Stadium.
Beauden Barrett scored 18 points as the Wellington side, who led 11-0 early on, recovered from a 17-11 deficit. Cory Jane and Julian Savea also crossed for the New Zealanders in a match in which both sides had a spell reduced to 14 men.
Taqele Naiyaravoro - one of the players later sin-binned - and Israel Folau touched down as the Waratahs mounted their comeback either side of half-time but their eventual loss leaves their play-off hopes in doubt.
