Ireland have made 10 changes in personnel for Saturday's clash with Samoa following the 23-21 defeat by South Africa.
Ronan O'Gara and Peter Stringer have been recalled for a match Ireland must win if they are to avoid a seventh straight defeat.
The appearance of the Munster half-backs in the last 15 minutes against South Africa coincided with their side's best spell.
Also in the backs, Ulster duo Paddy Wallace and Andrew Trimble are selected at inside centre and on the left wing.
Luke Fitzgerald's positional switch from wing to full-back lifts the total number of changes to the starting line-up to 11.
Leinster's Devin Toner will win his first cap after being selected alongside Donncha O'Callaghan in the second row.
Completing a new-look front five is prop Tom Court and hooker Sean Cronin, while there is also a recall for veteran tighthead John Hayes.
Openside David Wallace is replaced by Sean O'Brien, while Denis Leamy is preferred ahead of Stephen Ferris in the number six jersey.
