Jason Woodward brace helps Hurricanes overcome Reds

The Hurricanes proved too strong for the Queensland Reds on Saturday but did not have it all their own way in a 29-14 Super Rugby victory in Wellington.

The hosts outscored the plucky visitors by five tries to one, with Wes Goosen, Dane Coles, Ngani Laumape and Jason Woodward (two) touching down, and Beauden Barrett adding two conversions.

Chris Feauai-Sautia dotted down tor the Reds' only try 11 minutes into the second half, with their other nine points coming via the boot of Ayumu Goromaru.

The result lifted the Hurricanes, who earlier this week stood down five players for breaking a curfew, to 36 points in the New Zealand Conference - a point behind the Crusaders, Chiefs and Highlanders.
