Lamb holds nerve to clinch thriller

Northampton's Ryan Lamb sank his former club Gloucester with a 77th-minute penalty to claim a thrilling 26-24 victory in the Aviva Premiership.

Lamb thought he had cost his side victory when he missed an earlier kick and Freddie Burns landed a drop-goal for the visitors.

But Lamb kept his nerve on his debut off the bench after Will James threw a punch to give away the penalty.

Phil Dowson and Martin Roberts scored tries for the Saints, with Stephne Myler kicking three penalties and two conversions in addition to Lamb's late effort.

Jonny May and Charlie Sharples replied with tries for Gloucester and Tim Taylor added two penalties, James Simpson-Daniel a conversion and Burns a penalty and that drop-goal.
