Lamb to join Saints

Northampton have signed Ryan Lamb from Aviva Premiership rivals London Irish.

Lamb began his career at Gloucester before joining the Exiles two years ago. The 24-year-old recently lost his place in the team to Chris Malone. The move would appear to signal the end of Shane Geraghty's ill-fated spell at Franklin's Gardens - the player Lamb replaced at London Irish when he left for Saints.

"I've really enjoyed my time at London Irish and am thankful to the coaches at the club, particularly Mike Catt," he said. "It has been an important part of my career, but I'm really looking forward to teaming up with the Saints from next season."

Saints have also signed 24-year-old Wales scrum-half Martin Roberts from Magners League side the Scarlets.

Roberts joined the Scarlets in 2008 and has made 88 appearances for the region, including 21 this season.

"The prospect of playing Aviva Premiership Rugby is exciting," said Roberts said.

"Northampton is one of the top clubs in England and in Europe at the moment with some top players."
