Lions snare Cilliers and Rhodes

The Lions have announced the signings of former Sharks pair Patric Cilliers and Michael Rhodes as they continue rebuilding for next season.

The two players were released by the Durban franchise earlier on Tuesday, prompting a move from the Johannesburg union.

Cilliers, 23, is a prop, who made his debut for the Sharks in the 2007 Super 14, while flanker Rhodes, 22, featured for the first time during last year's Currie Cup.

The Lions, one of the worst performing sides in recent Super 14 competitions, have shown signs of improvement in the past few months after the appointment of former New Zealand coach John Mitchell.
