London Welsh turn to Jones

London Welsh have named former Ospreys coach Lyn Jones as the man to lead them into the Aviva Premiership.

Jones replaces Phil Greening in charge at Old Deer Park, having guided the Ospreys to the Magners League title in 2005 and 2007.

"Closing the gap between Aviva and Championship rugby takes a lot of hard work. I will bring my experience and understanding of coaching at the top level to a side that has ambition," said Jones.

"My passion for the game and my desire to coach remain very strong and I hope I have a huge amount to offer the game of rugby at the highest level for many years."

London Welsh, who reached the Championship semi-finals this season, also have major strides to take off the field if they are to reach the top flight.

The club do not currently meet the Premiership's entry criteria but are considering a groundshare plan with Brentford FC.
