Macdonald in stable condition

Southland Stags have confirmed that forward Hoani Macdonald is stable and in an induced coma after collapsing during their ITM Cup semi-final clash against Counties Manukau at Pukekohe.

The 34-year-old was taken to Middlemore Hospital after suffering a suspected heart attack 15 minutes into the game.

Macdonald is a former junior All Black who has also played for New Zealand Maori and in Super Rugby for Otago Highlanders and Melbourne Rebels as well as Newport Gwent Dragons for two years.
