As expected, Grosvenor lifted the McCrea Cup by overpowering Queen's University Seconds to score seven tries in a resounding triumph.

Out-half Peter Davison crossed for two but scrum-half Allen McCluggage dominated the scoresheet, scoring 18 points from a try and five conversions.

Jos McConkey, Matthew Cahoon, Matthew Allen and skipper Andrew Kelly were Grosvenor's other try scorers in a game they led 22-7 at half-time.

Queen's scored three tries, with Rory Nicholl getting over for a brace and Alex Elmore also managing one.

The Students had closed Grosvenor's lead to 22-14 early in the second half only for the Gibson Park-based side to ultimately outmuscle their opponents.

Grosvenor had a try after just three minutes when McCluggage worked his way over for the score.

The scrum-half then converted his own effort to put the pre-match favourites 7-0 ahead.

With just over half an hour gone, Grosvenor attacked off a scrum and McCluggage was stopped close in before McConkey powered over near the posts.

The conversion from McCluggage took Grosvenor's lead to 14-0.

Five minutes later, Davison used his strength to dot down, though McCluggage's conversion hit the post and stayed out.

He made no mistake from the tee with his next shot after Queen's were penalised at a scrum to take Grosvenor's lead to 22-0.

The Students hit back in injury time when centre Nicholl dived over under the posts, James Creighton's conversion making it 22-7 to Grosvenor.

The second half was only six minutes old when Queen's struck again, replacement Elmore crossing with Creighton converting.

Grosvenor needed the next score and got it through lock Cahoon, with McCluggage adding a great touchline conversion.

Davison then surged over for his second after 63 minutes. McCluggage converted and Grosvenor led 36-14.

To their credit, the Students again got Nicholl over for a try, but then Allen grabbed a sixth try for Grosvenor with McCluggage converting again.

Grosvenor's seventh was delivered by Kelly, with Adam Skelton's extras bringing up the half century.
