Cardiff Blues bring Ospreys to earth in derby triumph

Cardiff Blues finished the year on a high after registering a 27-25 Magners League victory over Welsh rivals Ospreys.

Tries from Tom James and Richard Mustoe put Cardiff in control, and they led 24-3 early in the second half, but Ospreys fought back to make it a close finish. Cardiff earned a penalty straight from the kick-off which outside-half Dan Parks kicked from 25 yards. He then added another penalty in the fourth minute.

James went over with Chris Czekaj giving the scoring pass.

Parks missed the conversion, while Ospreys outside-half Dan Biggar slotted over a penalty from a scrum. Parks hit two drop goals to extend the lead to 17-3.

The Blues extended their lead after the sin-binning of Paul James and Taufa'ao Filise. Wing Mustoe ran through for a try and Parks converted. Ospreys prop Paul James forced his way over on 59 minutes and Tommy Bowe snatched an interception for a try, converted by James Hook.

Hook added a penalty while Ceri Sweeney hit back. Andrew Bishop’s late try, converted by Hook, secured a losing bonus point.

Meanwhile, Aironi lost 16-15 to Benetton Treviso.
