Return to the field in France for Jackson

By Adam McKendry

Paddy Jackson made his return to rugby as he turned out for pre-season training for the first time with new club Perpignan.

The 26-year old was pictured meeting his new team-mates at Perpignan's training base in the south west of France, where coach Patrick Arlettaz put the group through their paces.

Jackson signed a two-year deal with the newly-promoted French side last month.

The fly-half and fellow former Ulster star Stuart Olding, who has also signed a deal to play in France with ProD2 side Brive, were acquitted of all charges in a high-profile rape case but had their contracts revoked by the IRFU afterwards.

On Monday, Ireland's performance director David Nucifora refused to rule out a return for the pair to Ireland, but for now Jackson will be concentrating on getting back to match fitness ahead of the new season.
