Rugby summer camps back in season for kids

By Niall Crozier

The now-annual Centra-sponsored Ulster Rugby Summer Camps will be staged at 16 province-wide locations during July and August.

The week-long junior camps — for boys and girls aged 6-12 — cater for complete novices as well as youngsters with mini rugby experience.

The emphasis will be on skills-based content, with coaches encouraging development through playing rugby and a range of fun activities.

The senior version — for teenagers aged 13-17 who have previous rugby experience — will be based at the University of Ulster Jordanstown with its state of the art facilities.

The content of the senior camp will focus on the technical, tactical, physical, mental and lifestyle aspects of rugby union.

Children eligible for the younger age group can win a free place via the Design A Mascot competition, entry forms for which are available on which is also the site for on-line enrolment for the camps. Application forms are also available from Centra stores.
