Sale flanker Cameron Neild signs new four-year deal

Flanker Cameron Neild has signed a new four-year contract with Sale Sharks.

The unusually lengthy new deal underscores Sale's faith in the 21-year-old academy graduate, who made 23 first-team appearances last term.

Neild switched from hooker to the back row after joining Sale's academy immediately after leaving Manchester Grammar School in 2013.

Last term Neild was named Sale's joint young player of the season, and now rugby director Steve Diamond has hailed his progress.

"Cameron is a fantastic player, who has come through the academy and shone last season," he told the club's website.

"We're pleased he's chosen to extend his deal at the club, and I have no doubt that he will continue to progress and become one of the building blocks of the team."

Neild revealed his delight to tie down his long-term future at his home-town club.

"I'm really chuffed to be staying at the club," he said. "It's the club I have supported all my life.

"We have a great squad here at the club and I am really looking forward to the new season in both the Premiership and the European Champions Cup."
