High School went in front with an early Brendan McMinn penalty but two tries from Bryn Davies helped the Magherafelt lads take a 21-8 advantage at the mid-point.

Hooker Davies barged over twice for Harry Evans to convert but the visitors came back with an unconverted Ryan Gibson score.

With the forwards on top a good team try followed with lots of hands involved before full-back Karl Warner finished off the move for Evans to add the points. After the restart McMinn goaled his own try to bring the High School within six points but then Rainey upped their game to score three more tries.

"We have a very young team and I felt we were rather nervous at the start and the occasion may have got to them in their first Cup game," stated coach Chris Campbell.

"It was a pretty satisfactory performance and a good all round team effort.

"Our centre Ciaran Doyle Doyle made a break in mid-field and evaded a couple of tackles to score and then Davies scored his third following a box kick.

"Finally No 8 Jack Bresland picked off the back of a scrum and was driven over, the last two being converted," he concluded.
