Rivals Methody and Inst set for heavyweight clash after Schools' Cup quarter-final draw pairs them together
Bitter Belfast rivals Methodist College Belfast and Royal Belfast Academical Institution (RBAI) have been paired together in the draw for the quarter-finals of the Danske Bank Schools' Cup.
The competition's two most successful teams will meet for the first time since the final of the 2016-17 tournament when they clash at Pirrie Park on February 23.
Methody hammered Dalriada away from home in this morning's fourth round, winning 45-7, while RBAI kept a clean sheet when they overcame Royal School Dungannon at Osborne Park, 38-0.
While the meeting of the Belfast schools is undoubtedly the tie of the quarter-finals, the best match in this morning's fourth round came from Holywood where Campbell College edged out local rivals Sullivan Upper 19-13.
Their reward is a last-eight tie at home to Enniskillen Royal, who accounted for Down High 19-3 in the last game of this morning's line-up.
Another intriguing quarter-final match will see Royal School Armagh, who thumped Aaron Sexton's Bangor Grammar side 66-12, travel to one of the big names in Ballymena Academy, who were 17-12 victors against Belfast Royal Academy.
The final quarter-final has top seeds Wallace High on the road to Rainey Endowed after they overcame Cambridge House (55-7) and Ballyclare High (15-12) respectively.
