Sides line up for action in Schools’ Cup draw

Northern Bank have renewed their sponsorship of the Schools’ Cup, the second oldest rugby competition in the world.

The preliminary round of the 2011/12 competition will take place next Saturday (December 10) with Antrim Grammar hosting Wellington College to determine which will join 11 others in round two.

They are Banbridge Academy, Belfast HS, Cambridge House, Carrickfergus GS, Dalriada, Friends, Larne GS,, Lurgan College, Omagh Academy, Portora RS and Rainey Endowed.

Robert Garrett, Head of Corporate at Northern Bank and John Wilson, chairman of the Ulster Schools' Committee made the draw for the second round of the competition which will be played on Saturday, January 14.

The draw is: Belfast HS v Larne GS, Lurgan College v Cambridge House, Friends v Antrim GS or Wellington College, Portora RS v Dalriada, Rainey Endowed v Carrick GS, Omagh Academy v Banbridge Academy.

The winners of those matches will progress to the third round where they will be joined by 10 teams: Bangor GS, BRA, Coleraine AI, Down HS, Foyle & Londonderry College, Grosvenor GS, Portadown College, Regent House, RS Dungannon and Sullivan

Third round matches will be played on Saturday, January 28, 2012.

The final eight seeded teams — Ballyclare HS, Ballymena Academy, Campbell College, Limavady GS, Methodist College, RBAI, RS Armagh and Wallace HS will join the winners of those ties for round four on Saturday, February 11.

Quarter-finals: Saturday, February 25; semi-finals: March 5 and 7 at Ravenhill.

Final: Monday, March 19, at Ravenhill.
