Wallace edge it to book last four place
Wallace HS 6 Regent House 0
This was a hard fought encounter between two evenly matched teams but it was Wallace High that reached the semi-finals to await the outcome of this afternoon's draw.
It was a typical Wallace type of game with their robust forwards winning the majority of the ball and prepared to keep it tight.
It was keenly contested at the breakdown and line outs with Wallace having a penalty in each half from Andrew Gilmour.
Regent should have made it |3-3 at the half way stage but a kickable penalty was missed. Wallace's control of most of the possession was the key aspect of their success and this led to the territorial advantage.
Regent had the superior backs but little quality ball prevented them from showing all their capabilities.
Regent rearranged their pack later in the encounter in an endeavour to change the pattern of play and although they had some success they were always struggling and having a player yellow carded didn't help.
The second period was very exhausting for both teams.
The Wallace coach Neil Hinds was glad to hear the final whistle.
He said: “It was a truly energy sapping second half but our performance was good.”
