Scotland A go for experience

Scotland A will field a side boasting 75 full caps when they take on England Saxons in Friday's RBS 6 Nations support act.

Head coach Shade Munro has picked an experienced line-up as they prepare to take on the Saxons at Kingston Park in Newcastle.

Included are 24-time capped Worcester Warriors winger Nikki Walker, Sale Sharks prop Alasdair Dickinson - also capped 24 times - and his club team-mate Richie Vernon, who has appeared at flanker on 20 occasions for his country.

Also starting are full internationals Alex Grove of Worcester, Bath's Tom Heathcote, and Glasgow Warriors duo Jon Welsh and Tom Ryder.

The Scots' A team ran in four unanswered tries at Netherdale to win last season's fixture 35-0 and now Munro has challenged his side to complete a home and away double.

He said: "This is the first senior representative match of 2013 for a Scottish side and, as an opener for the RBS 6 Nations Championship, we have the opportunity to put a marker down and show what Scottish rugby is about, while those selected have an excellent chance to show why they deserve to feature in the remainder of the RBS 6 Nations campaign."
