Henry Speight crossed the line twice as the Brumbies eased past the struggling Lions 34-20 in Friday night's Super 15 match at Coca Cola Park.
The Australian visitors outscored their opponents by six tries to two, and the margin of victory could have been much greater but for some wayward kicking by Christian Lealiifano and Jesse Mogg.
The win still sealed a bonus point for the Brumbies, however.
Earlier half-back Will Genia lifted the Reds, the defending Super Rugby champions, to a deserved 23-11 win over the hapless Blues at Eden Park.
There were times when the Reds looked decidedly ordinary as their indiscipline, especially in conceding penalties, allowed the Blues to stay in the game longer than their lack of form might have warranted.
But there was always Genia, hovering at the base of rucks and mauls to lift his side with special acts of brilliance.
The most decisive was his pass across the face of the Blues' goal-line moments into the second half, setting up wing Dom Shipperley to put the Reds out to a 12-point, match-winning lead.
